Examples of vessels flying the Swiss flag
A number of vessels flying the Swiss flag set the standard when it comes to innovation, research, sustainability and sport.

Swiss yacht at the America’s Cup
The Swiss Alinghi Red Bull Racing sailing team is one of the world's leading teams in international sailing and uses start-of-the-art materials and technologies. In 2003, it became the first European team – and Switzerland the first landlocked country – to bring the prestigious America's Cup to Europe.
Rowing challenge across the Atlantic and Pacific
In the 2021 World's Toughest Row, a rowing challenge across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, the «Swiss Raw - Atlantic» team rowed 5000 km across the Atlantic without any outside support and won. In 2025, the «Swiss Raw - Pacific» team is looking to cross the central Pacific from Monterey (California) to Kauai (Hawaii) and win again.
The research vessels FLEUR DE PASSION and MAURITIUS
The FLEUR DE PASSION and MAURITIUS belong to the Swiss association Pacifique, which promotes marine research and environmental protection to create a better understanding of human impact on the world's oceans. The association also works to raise awareness of the challenges of sustainable development.
The Expedition Sailboat PACHAMAMA
The PACHAMAMA is home to a Swiss family, who are exploring the extremes of the world's oceans from the Arctic to the Antarctic as part of the project TOPtoTOP Global Climate Expedition. Using only renewable energies, the vessel is fully autonomous and sustainable and can operate safely in any marine environment.
CINDERELLA NOEL IV
The CINDERELLA NOEL IV is currently the largest yacht on the Swiss register. Its hybrid drive can utilise diesel engines or electric motors, individually or together. This reduces both greenhouse gas and noise emissions, which is a major advantage, especially in harbour and coastal areas.
The hybdrid vessel SOLORIS
The SOLORIS is a privately financed research project promoting green shipping. The solar hybrid propulsion vessel, which is 25 metres long and weighs 55 tonnes, was able to sail 1800km on French waterways with just 47 litres of diesel. The remaining energy consumption was covered by solar power, amounting to an overall CO2 saving of 98%.
