Deleting a yacht from the official register

Yachts can only be deleted from the official register by submitting a completed application form to the Swiss Maritime Navigation Office (SMNO) together with the certificate of registry if still valid. Expired certificates do not have to be returned.

• EPIRB

  If the EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) is sold or transferred to someone else, it must be re-registered or, in the case of a change of flag, deleted in the IBRD (International Beacon Registration Database). EPIRBs are bound to a specific ship (MMSI) and, even if carried temporarily, must be re-registered to the new vessel.
